Springs Car Wholesalers, a distinguished family-owned entity rooted in the Republic of South Africa, has embarked on a bold venture into the Mauritian market with CentrePoint. With a workforce numbering 2,500 and an impressive annual revenue of approximately 400 million euros, the company has thrived in the car rental and vehicle sales sector while skillfully managing an extensive property portfolio.
Aadil enthusiastically revealed, “The CentrePoint project was conceived as a groundbreaking endeavor from the outset. It aimed to be a game-changer of its time, representing an exciting venture for Springs Car Wholesalers. Our pre-existing business affiliations in Mauritius provided a solid foundation for expansion.”

He went on to share the project’s evolution, saying, “CentrePoint, strategically located at the heart of the island, initially envisioned itself as a full-fledged shopping Centre. However, as market insights unfolded, we made the strategic decision to adapt it into a mixed-use development, offering a broader and unique spectrum of services.”
Even in its current tenancy phase, CentrePoint has already begun to positively impact the local job market. Aadil stated, “CentrePoint is already making waves by creating employment opportunities. Approximately 40 individuals are currently employed on a full-time basis, responsible for the centres upkeep and maintenance. This number is set to double shortly, as we engage more service providers to cater to cleaning, security, landscaping, and other essential services.”
CentrePoint’s unique selling proposition lies in its vision as a comprehensive mixed-use development. Aadil explained, “Our motto revolves around providing individuals with the ultimate convenience of fulfilling various needs under one roof. From working out at the gym, taking care of your wellness needs, to banking, insurance, dental visits, nail care, lunch, and grocery shopping, CentrePoint is designed to be a one-stop destination for diverse services.”
He emphasized that this all-encompassing approach sets CentrePoint apart from its competitors in the region, offering a singular, versatile destination for a multitude of needs. Discussing the tenant mix, Aadil detailed, “The tenant mix at CentrePoint is diversified and tailored to meet the unique needs of our patrons across different levels. Level 0, often referred to as the retail level, houses a choice of various retail segments, including restaurants, convenience stores, and a grocery anchor. Our vision includes ten sit-down restaurants, aiming to centralize culinary diversity currently scattered across the island.”
“On Level 1, we’ve meticulously crafted an effortless journey for office clients, ensuring easy access via escalators from Level 0. Upper levels offer a serene environment for those seeking a more peaceful atmosphere. Our third floor features a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness centre, a distinctive feature within the Mauritian market,” Aadil added.
He concluded by outlining the project’s timeline, saying, “CentrePoint’s full operational rollout is scheduled, with the office component anticipated to open by February 2024. Subsequently, the ground retail floor will follow, with the gym and wellness centre set to be operational by April 2024. The grand opening is slated for when we achieve an occupancy rate of 85% to 100%, likely in the latter part of 2024.”
In a final note, Aadil extended a warm invitation to potential tenants, saying, “We are actively seeking the best tenants, including restaurants, hair salons, pharmacies, and other businesses, to join our exciting venture. Our doors are wide open to interested parties, and we have dedicated customer relations managers ready to facilitate your inquiries. CentrePoint is poised to become an iconic landmark in Mauritius, offering unparalleled convenience, variety, and a truly unique experience to all who choose to be a part of it.”
