AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2023, will be held at La Réserve Golf Links of Heritage Resorts from December 14 to 17. This international tournament with USD 1.2M prize fund is all set to host the “crème de la crème” of professional golfers from the DP World Tour and the Sunshine Tour, making it a pivotal event in the golfing calendar. This tournament will mark the first international competition held on the contemporary links of La Réserve Golf Links.
Designed collaboratively by the renowned South African champion Louis Oosthuizen and Peter Matkovich, La Réserve Golf Links stands as the first and only contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean region. The latest addition to Heritage Resorts has captured widespread excitement among golf enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Being part of the newly introduced Opening Swing, the tournament inaugurates the new season on the DP World Tour and will crown two champions during the week-long competition.
Beyond the tournament winner, the Opening Swing will establish its Order of Merit. The highest-ranking professional at the end of the Swing will receive an additional prize of $200,000. Additionally, if the player is already a member of the DP World Tour, they will secure an invitation to the upcoming Rolex Series tournament of the DP World Tour, along with participation in each of the Back Nine Series events.
“The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is a tremendous source of national pride and reflects AfrAsia Bank’s vision to establish Mauritius as a major international financial center with a strong banking system. It is also a dynamic hub for investing, working, living, or enjoying retirement. Associating this vision with the exciting news of holding the tournament on a prestigious new course like La Réserve Golf Links reinforces our belief in doing what others say can’t be done and leveraging local opportunities to create a global impact,” states Thierry Vallet, Executive Founder of AfrAsia Bank.
La Réserve Golf Links significantly complements the top-notch experience available in the southern part of Mauritius and on the renowned Domaine de Bel Ombre. Le Château Golf Course, an internationally acclaimed course at Heritage Golf Club, has already hosted the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open three times. This new addition transforms Heritage Resorts into the only 45-hole destination in the Indian Ocean, positioning the southern part of the island as a true golfing haven.
“The 2023 edition of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open (ABMO) will be unlike any other. We have hosted the event before, but the spectacular setting of La Réserve Golf Links promises to captivate players as much as viewers and spectators. Heritage Resorts’ visitors will be able to immerse themselves in our unique offering, which combines luxury, sustainable practices, and the intrinsic beauty of Mauritius to ensure a memorable stay, combining enjoyment and enrichment on and off the golf course,” declares Thierry Montocchio, Executive Director and CEO of Rogers Hospitality.

The tournament continues to support Mauritius’ tourism goals with coverage in over 550 million households worldwide, showcasing an event now known as “the most beautiful week in golf.”
“We are delighted to welcome professionals and their families for a week that stands out on the golf calendar. The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is a crucial partner of Mauritian tourism, as the eyes of the golfing world are on our island, highlighting our unique blend of spectacular golf courses and exceptional hospitality. We have a golfing history that dates back over a century, and we are proud to accompany constant innovation in the sector through this tournament, which positions Mauritius as a hub of energy and adventure,” supports Arvind Bundhun, Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA).
Since its inception in 2015, the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open has also worked closely with the Mauritian Golf Federation (MGF) to develop the sport on the island as local professionals strive to secure a place in the tournament.
“The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open creates a powerful aspirational effect among Mauritian golfers, who can experience this wonderful sport firsthand at home and discover all the doors it can open for them. The tournament offers excellent opportunities for local professionals who have qualified to participate and, at the same time, supports our development efforts as we organize a golf clinic each year with our young golfers and invited professionals,” says Yannick Merven, President of the Mauritian Golf Federation.
Once again this year, the tournament has attracted a host of prestigious sponsors, including AfrAsia Bank, the Rogers Group, Rogers Hospitality, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, IBL, Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels, Heritage Villas Valriche, Phoenix Beverages, Jacobs Coffee, Pro Carts, and Mautourco.
